CONSTRUCTIVE 31ST DECEMBER, a special youth program organized by youth members of Manashakti, is conducted with novel ideas, every year. This year’s (4th year) theme was: ‘Shape the Mind’. Around 800 youngsters attended the program held on the picturesque venue of Manashanti Ashram in Lonavla.
The program opened with a funny Game Show and went on becoming more interesting. Specially designed outdoor games – ‘Dhan Dhanadhan Goal’ & ‘From Drops to Pond’ – were loaded with entertainment. The players practically experienced the importance of adjustment, cooperation & time management to make a successful team.
The main stage-show commenced at 9.30 p.m. Youths creatively displayed the importance of various values & virtues e.g. positive thinking, cooperation, sensitivity, keeping high ideals, loyalty and benevolence through dramas, dances and ballets. These performances were supplemented by inspiring messages of the great achievers like Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus (founder of Grameen Bank), Dr Vijaya Wad (Chairperson, Marathi Vishwakosh Mandal), Mrs Veena Patil (Managing Director, Kesari Tours) and Mr Bharatkumar Raut (Editor, Maharashtra Times) et al.
At 12 midnight the declining year was bade farewell and the New Year was welcomed with lezim dance, lighting the Mashals and loud cheers of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. Mr G S Kelkar, Research Director & Trustee of Manashakti conveyed greetings for the New Year to the gathering. A pledge ‘to shape oneself making good determination & mighty efforts to make a great country’ was collectively taken in the presence of the resplendent light. Everyone was moved by the concluding dance on ‘Vande Mataram’.
Youth returned only after making new determinations for constructive work in the New Year.
