Sudden loss of memory, forgetfulness, poor understanding of the subject, apathy for studies are some of the symptoms of Mental Fatigue. This test is conducted with the help of a machine called 'Mental Fatigue Tester''. Normally

during 8 to 21 years of developing age, the physical, mental and intellectual growths are taking place simultaneously. Sometimes this might lead to imbalance in growth at mental or intellectual level, resulting in mental fatigue. In effect, memory becomes weak or one can not pay due attention to study or mental work.' Principle

There is a small flickering lamp (LED in this case) on the stage inside the machine. The frequency of the flicker can be changed and is displayed by the frequency counter. The child observes the flicker through the window of the machine and frequency is slowly increased till the child observes the flicker as a continuous glow. This is say initial frequency. Now the child is asked to perform a mental task e.g. solving a few math calculations or writing extracts etc. After this task, again s/he is tested for observing the flicker. This is the final reading. If the mental fatigue is present, the final frequency observed is less than the initial one.

With the help of this test, the parents understand the child in proper perspective and carry out remedial measures, which the researchers suggest after the test.
