"Happy Marriage" course conducted at Manashakti!

Participants for Happy Marriage course

For a family enriched with pleasure and peace,
difference of opinions is tolerable, but not difference of mind!

Rational clues and ways for a happy and contented family were explained in the ‘Happy Marriage' (Sansar Mangal) study course held at the Manashakti Research Centre, during 9th to 11th Dec, 2011. Around 60 inquisitive persons participated in the study course. The gist of the course is as under:

The chief enemy of a happy and contented family is "ego"! Following utterances emanating from personal ego seem to spark off serious conflicts in the husband and wife:
‘I am senior and intelligent than you’!
‘I am also an earning and responsible member of the family’!
‘In this house my word should be final’!
These heated rows result in widening the gap between the husband and the wife, create unrest in the household, affect adversely the health and well being of children, and generates mental dissatisfaction, which has detrimental effect on the employment and business! The thought of ‘family’ becomes unpleasant and revolting! To alleviate this problem, people turn to superficial remedies. But the root cause of ‘ego’ remains untreated and continue to fan the family fire!

The best remedy is to know and assimilate the fact that "no one is perfect". Everyone does have his share of vice and virtues! The wise policy is neither to boast for a virtue nor to hate a vice. This will create a balanced atmosphere in the household, the sharp and troublesome corners of the wife-husband personalities would round off! And this would encourage the habit of mutual compatibility, and foster the virtues of continence, tolerance and cooperation.

A two pronged tool of 'knowledge' and 'meditation' is useful for stabilizing and calming the mind. Jyoti-dhyan (concentrating on the light of a candle) is a very effective meditation method. This meditation and prayer brings all the family members together for a good cause, and generates a sublime atmosphere in the home.

Another trick is, whenever a decision is to be taken, all members of the family should have the freedom to express their opinion, and then only, the family head should take the decision.

In addition to above, novel concepts like Post-Marriage Adjustment Test, celebrating Day of Narrating One’s Own Vices, Respect for Elders etc. were presented in the study course. All participants were convinced that these concepts if properly implemented would enhance love, empathy, respect and confidence among all family members.

This study course would be repeated on 17th - 19th Feb. 2012; and the enrollment has already commenced. (The enrollment can be done through Manashakti website also.)
